Catching up...

Last weekend started off with the McGuire's 5K Prediction Run! I was so excited Adam was able to get his work schedule altered so he could be there! We've been doing it every year we've been together I think! :) I need to dig out all the t-shirts to see for sure! Here is a pic of us on race day, and then a pic of the starting line. We were waaaaaaaaaay in the back! haha :) But we did pretty good and were only about 1 minute off of our times that we guessed. :)

Sorry for the crappy image! My iphone doesn't like sun! :) hehe

LOTS OF people! I think there were over 11,000 this year! Another record breaker!

On Sunday I was so excited because we were going to Painting with a Twist later that day! :) We signed up for a 2-hour class and painted owls!! It was SO MUCH FUN! I'll definitely be going back! Adam kept telling me his owl didn't look right, but I think his turned out even better than mine! :) Here we are below with our owls!

It's only $35 per person, and that includes a 16x20 canvas (which can cost around $28), the paint, brushes, instructor and they clean it all up for you! And the instructor we had, Holly, was GREAT! She was so patient and taught us how to blend and fix mistakes, etc. I wore an owl shirt since we were painting owls. You can kind of see it in the picture! :) Plus, the paintings are dry (they have blow dryers if you need them) and you get to take them home with you!! Like I said, we'll definitely be going back, and I can't wait to go with a few of my girlfriends too! They are all over the country so check and see if there is a location near you!

This is the demo one they had there, and I think ours turned out really close!!

After painting, Adam was coerced happy to go to a local antique shop that was having a 5 and dime weekend. Most of the booths participate by having items for 5 cents and 10 cents. I didn't see anything I liked that was that cheap this time, but I did find these cute fire king cereal bowls! :) I love the little comics on them. I ended up getting 3 of them for $10 which I thought was a steal! :)

Later that night we met some good friends for dinner at Outback. I haven't been there to eat for about 6 years because of such a crappy experience we had one night. UGH! But it wasn't too bad Sunday. :) And it was nice catching up with Noah and Judy and finally meeting their little one Madelyn!! Of course I didn't bring my camera, but we're planning on doing some more stuff with them soon so I'll catch a photo of all of us then!! :)

After dinner we came home and noticed their were clumps of fur flying around the house. And then I noticed that 2 of our cats were kind of at a standoff with each other, hissing and growling, etc. LOVELY! haha One had a bloody nose and the other had toenails stuck in his face. Now, keep in mind, they have all lived together since 2008. So for over 3 years we've gone without any major fighting. Just a few spats here and there. But this one brought it to a whole new level. Needless to say, they have been separated while we aren't home this whole week. :) It's been working out nicely, except I don't like having a litter box back in our master bathroom. ICK! But hopefully they will calm down and be nice to each other again soon. Fingers crossed!!

The rest of our week has been pretty uneventful, until last night, which I'll get to in a minute. ;) On Tuesday we met Judy, Noah and Madelyn for a quick dinner at Tijuana Flats for Taco Tuesday! YUM!! I LOVE eating there! Then we rushed home and then to Malbis (about 35 minutes away) so I could get a gift for a lingerie shower that was Thursday night. We left the house at 8pm, (yes, Victoria's Secret closed at 9pm), but we made it there with plenty of time to spare. Why did we drive all the way to Alabama to get the gift? Adam asked me the same question. Well, our stupid Victoria's Secret only had Florida Gator lingerie, and the AL had Alabama stuff of course. :) And Allison (the bride to be) LOVES Alabama! I got her the cutest, comfiest, softest romper I've ever seen. It's too bad they don't have a Notre Dame or Ohio State one, or I'd have one too. ;) Anyways, the shower was last night and I think she really liked it. They are going to Jamaica next week on their honeymoon and everyone was excited because she could wear it to lounge in over her bathing suit on the beach. :)

While I was at the party, Adam calls me like a hundred times. And texts me to call him. Well my phone was on vibrate so I didn't see that he had been trying to reach me. I finally get him on the phone, and he tells me someone hit me. I'm like in the face? He's like NO, my car! I was like Oh that sucks!! Where are they? Well, they drove off. What A**HOLES! People are so dumb. He was turning left into a parking lot, and they decided to turn out before he was out of they way, and they hit him and just drove right off. UGH! Here is the damage. Not that bad, but still annoying that is happened. I'm just glad Adam is ok. A car is easy to fix and can be replaced, Adam cannot be replaced. :)

Well tonight is the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, then tomorrow I have to be at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at 10am so I can get glamourized with all the other attendants. haha :) (This is the first wedding I've been in since I was younger, so I'm kind of nervous. I don't really want to bust my face in the middle of the ceremony. LOL) The wedding is at 5pm tomorrow night, so they will be doing lots of primping on me until then. I'm looking forward to it though, and I know Allison will be glad to have it here, and then be off to Jamaica for the week.

Time to go get ready for the rehearsal tonight! Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Wee Bit Wednesday or rather Thursday this week....

My friend Miranda always does these, so I thought this week I'd join in!!! :)

{one} what color is your kitchen?
Bright green! :) When we first painted it, we called it Ninja Turtle Green because at night it just looked so GREEN!! I was so nervous the next morning when I woke up, but thankfully in the daylight it looked so much better!! :)

{two} do you have a good luck charm?
Not really.

{three} do you prefer to write with a pen or pencil?
PENCIL! Every since my mom has helped me with math homework when I was younger, I've used a pencil. She wouldn't help me if I used a pen. I even tried the erasable pens, but nope, only pencil with her so it kind of stuck with everything else. :)

{four} can you use chopsticks?

Oh yeah! :) Thanks to many sushi nights and bang bang shrimp nights with Adam, I'm pretty good. :) I still drop stuff though. :) Then again, I drop stuff eating with regular utensils so there ya go. ;)

{five} do you prefer baths or showers?
Showers. I just can't get comfy in the bath tub. Plus, I like it really, really full of water for a bath, and I never can seem to get it full enough without it almost overflowing. ;)

{six} what is your favorite salad dressing?
Ranch is my go to dressing. But my favorite is Brianna's Blush Wine Vinagrette. YUM!!!

{seven} can you sing the alphabet backwards?
ha, never tried. :)

{eight} do you have any allergies?
Plenty. ;)

{nine} crunchy or creamy peanut butter?
either, i like any pb if it's Jif :)

{ten} have you ever hitch hiked?
um no way; but Adam and his Dad seem to think it's ok to pick random ones up. NUTS I tell ya!!

Silly cats...

We have 5 cats. Just thought I'd put that out there. They are a mess. :) I could vacuum all day, everyday and there would still be cat hair and cat litter and other lovely things that cats leave behind all over my house. Bella, our baby black cat, sheds like a BEAST! I swear she is my personal hair factory. I'm surprised she has any left because of how much she leaves all of the furniture. I don't go a single day without having a "hamster" (this is what my mom and I call the tufts of hair floating around the house) :) floating by me on the floor. And what do my cats do?? Play with it?? Watch it and just wait to pounce on it and make it fly again? Um no, they run by and gobble them up before I can catch then. Oh, they eventually give them back. ;) Oh so nice of them. haha

Only 4 of the cats are inside, the other is outside. No I don't like him being there, but he's the neighborhood cat and doesn't liked to be inside, so we feed him, take him to the vet, watch out for him, etc. I'd love for him to stay inside, but I don't think that will ever happen. Maybe when he gets old?? Who knows?

Here's a little about each of them:

Mr. Big & Sasha

Mr. Big is a huge striped tabby, weighing in just under 20lbs. He's usually snuggly and lovey, but kind of a grouchy grandpa to the other cats. He's fiesty and likes to fight sometimes too. It's really funny to see him run fast, because his belly swings all over the place. :) Sasha is a little more grey with some orange, but she's a tabby too. She weighs about 12 lbs. She is super timid, but she likes to snuggle me. :) She is terrified of ceiling fans when they are turned off. And she prefers to be sleeping somewhere where no one can see her, but she can see them. She gets lost in the house every once in a while as well. Last weekend we couldn't find her, and she was inside our dresser in the bedroom. Now I know why the drawer wouldn't shut all the way when I tried to close it. haha And yes, I have squished her before when she's gotten in their previously.

Sasha and Mr. Big are brother and sister. My Mom and Grandma saw a sign for free kittens in 2005 shortly after Hurricane Katrina. It was at a little grooming shop on their way home, so they decided to go in. Apparently, someone had come over from New Orleans with a very pregnany momma cat that they had rescued from the aftermath of that terrible hurricane. She died giving birth to the kittens, but luckily they made it thanks to the shop.

Later that afternoon, after Mom and Grandma told us all about the sweet kittens they had seen, Adam and I made a trip over to the shop. Well, we both had our favorites, but had to make a quick trip to Wal-Mart before we picked one out to take home. I don't think that nice man that owned the place thought we were coming back. haha But I just didn't want to get a kitten and take it home and not have the essentials already in place. So we came back and he asked us which one we wanted. And we told him, well we were thinking of getting 2. :) haha His whole face lit up. haha So I picked out HUGE Mr. Big and Adam picked out timid little Sasha. :) (I named Mr. Big after the Sex and the City character. How funny is it that he turned out to be so HUGE? :) And I wanted to name Sasha, Carrie instead, but Adam wouldn't let me have to SATC names, so Sasha it is.)

Nigel

He's our outside child that found us in 2007 right before Halloween. He showed up on our back porch and hasn't ever really left. I think he weighs about 15 lbs. He is the sweetest cat, and loves to be snuggled. He'll sit on your lap and let you love on him for hours. :) His name got chosen because I think he looks very regal. haha Unfortunately he also likes to bring us presents at the back door. It's really gross. :( Sometimes just pieces too. UGH! He is very laid back though. Our cats like to run out at him and he just sits there and looks at them like "Leave me alone". haha :) He's had to go to the emergency vet more than once. The first time he tore his paw open, thankfully it healed and only had to be cleaned, but it scared us to come home and find blood all over the back porch and him limping. The second time was just last Thanksgiving, you can read about that here. He was very sick, but thankfully with lots of meds, staying in the laundry room for a few weeks, and lots of love he made it through just fine.

Pixee

Oh Pixee, she's such a wild child. One night driving home I was right near out house and on the phone with my mom when I saw glowing eyes in the bushes on the side of the road. I quickly told mom I'll call you back and pulled over. I started calling here kitty, come on and here comes Pixee bounding over to me. She was so scared. :( I was worried she was going to get out in the road (I was on a side road that intersects 2 VERY BUSY major roads in town), so I coaxed her over to the passenger side of my car and opened the door. That silly cat jumped right in and looked at me as if to say "Well, are we going home now?" haha :) So I hopped in the car and drove home with her. As we were pulling up into the garage, she was standing on the dash of my car checking everything out. haha :) I think I was meant to find her. It took some time getting her adjusted to our house and with Big and Sasha, but they finally started tolerating each other. I was so dang stressed for forever, because it was just one thing after another with the cats. Fighting, litter box issues, etc. UGH! I don't miss that. We still have issues, but it gets better all the time it seems.

We came really close to taking Pixee to the Humane Society here. I mean, we were in the parking lot, deciding whether to take her in or not, close. Pixee is special. haha She has a firey temper, likes to bite a little too much, doesn't like to be brushed much, hates having her nails trimmed, and just overall is persnickety. She's been known to randomly bite or scratch you if you get in her "space". :) So I just couldn't have someone else adopt her that might be mean to her and not tolerate her brattiness. She's been much more snuggly lately so I'm hoping we are on an upward trend with her. We'll see. :)

Bella

This was taken the day we found her, she was so little!!!

All nice and fat! :) hehe

She's all black (looks just like Nigel, so I call him her Uncle) ;), sheds like a furry BEAST, and won't let us get near her usually. haha :) She came to us one day and I didn't find her until that night. Here's the story. I came home early from work one afternoon and went in the house as usual. I had left the garage door open since it was nice out, and then ran back out to close it so I didn't forget later on. Well I heard a crash, not too loud, but enough to make me go in the garage and check it out. I like to pile things, so I was thinking a box or something probably fell over so I didn't think too much about it. I left later that evening and met Adam at the gym (yes, once upon a time I went to the gym) ;). As we were driving home after the gym, Adam realized he forgot his gym bag and turned around to go get it. But I just went ahead home. As I opened the garage door, I saw something black shoot across the garage. I was thinking oh no, a raccoon or the neighbors dog just ran in there. haha So I finally clear some stuff away and realize there is a teeny, tiny kitten hiding in our garage. Adam calls me and I tell him, um we have another cat. I don't think he believed me until he got home and saw me laying on the garage floor with a flashlight looking at her. haha :) She never would come to us that night so we put food and water out and checked on her in the morning. After a lovely ordeal of trying to catch her that morning, and her clawing Adam through a pair of leather gloves, we finally got her into a cat carrier and got a good look at her. She was sooo tiny! Just skin and bones. We tried to find her a home that day, but didn't have any luck. Well at this point she still wouldn't let us touch her, so my mom came over and we decided to let Mr. Big into the laundry room (where we were keeping her in her carrier) to see what she would do. As soon as she saw him she meowed and ran to the door of the carrier and she turned into this sweet little, loving kitten. I think she thought he was her mommy. haha :) They have been the best of friends ever since, and even Pixee took on a mommy role with Bella. haha We took her to the vet the next week and she only weighed 1.8 lbs, and as it turned out was 6 months old. So she was basically starving to death. She's our 2nd largest now, so don't worry, she fat and happy. haha :) We did have a scare with her that weekend we found her though. She was kind of lethargic, so my mom had me check her gums, which turned out to be completely WHITE!! She had so many fleas on her that she barely had any blood left. So I got out the alcohol and a flea comb and went to town killing fleas. Alcohol works great because it stuns the fleas so you can catch them and squish them, plus it dries quickly so Bella didn't get cold. After I had her cleaned up, I made sure she was warm, and thankfully within a few hours her little gums were turning pink again. Poor Bella. Even though she had a tragic beginning, I'm hoping she's happy with us. :) At least I know she'll always have enough to eat and drink now. And no more fleas!!!

Anyways, here are some random shots of our "children" (that I have on my phone) and what my mom calls her "grandcats" since I have not given her any real grandchildren yet. ;)

Sasha and Bella

Mr. Big and Sasha

Mr. Big (aka, the ham) ;) I have lots of pics of him because he likes to pose for me! :)

Mr. Big (What big eyes you have.) :)

Mr. Big (the name is very fitting right?)

Sasha, Pixee, Big and Bella (This is rare occurrence at our house. Shortly after this shot, Big rolled over and some paper crinkled and they all jumped up ready to swat at each other. ;) It was cute while it lasted though.)

Mr. Big once again (he's so silly)

Sasha (My little Queen of the house) :)

Pixee (She likes to see how small of a box she can fit in. I think this one wins.) ;) Don't judge the messy island. haha :) It's first on my 40 Bags in 40 Days to do list! It will be taken care of TONIGHT! hehe

Mr. Big (Once again, he's so snuggly) :)

My Birthday came early this year...

Well, not really, but one of my presents did. :) My Mom and I have been talking about me getting a sewing machine for awhile now, and she's wanted a new one too. We both think that the Janome Magnolia 7330 is SUPER CUTE! And it's priced very reasonably!

Here she is!! :)

Well a few weeks ago, I stopped by my Mom's house to drop off a few things, and she was like I have a surprise for you. Well I knew we had ordered something and it had come in that day, but for the life of me I couldn't remember what. haha :) So she then proceeded to give me some HUGE knitting needles that we ordered off Amazon.com. We got 2 sets for $3.98. Great deal right? :) Anyways, I was like ha, I had forgotten what we had ordered, but I knew something was being delivered today. So my mom is like, well that's not your surprise; close your eyes and come in the living room. So I walked in there and I see a sewing machine setup on the coffee table. I'm like, did you get a new sewing machine? :) I'm already excited by this point thinking YAY I'll be able to sew at your house on the old one now. And she's says, yep I got a new one, but that one right there is yours. :) YAY!!! haha I was so excited, probably more surprised at first. I can't wait to get started sewing on it. I just need a space to work, so I'm hoping the 40 Bags in 40 Days will help me get my house clear of lots of clutter so I can get our office/sewing room organized.

Anyways, just had to share about my AWESOME early birthday present! :) Love you Mom (& Terry ;)) and thanks again!! :)

40 Bags in 40 Days...

While I was reading at House of Grace today, she posted about her sister-in-law's latest post and I had to share! Check out white house, black shutters when you get a chance. Her 40 bags, 40 days challenge starts today, and I can't wait to get started! :) My house is full of stuff, stuff, stuff that I don't need or want. It's time to purge, and it's just in time since my mom and I are participating in a garage sale with her neighborhood in April. You can check out all the info by clicking the button below. I'm going to try to update on my progress with this often, and hopefully that will keep me motivated! ;)

We have a 3 bedroom house, and 2 of them which are supposed to be our office/craft room and then the workout room are filled with STUFF!! It's like living in a one bedroom apartment all over again because these 2 extra spaces have so much crap in them. If I wasn't so horrified by them I'd post pictures. Maybe I will be courageous and post them. :) haha

She also created a great printable to help you get started organzing your plan of attack! :) You can print yours out here. And I agree with her. Print out 2. One as a rough draft and one that you can keep "pretty". :)

ZUMBA!

I haven't posted in way too long, I have lots of posts drafted up, but most of them are only about 50% finished. haha :)

This one will be short and sweet! Last week I started going to Zumba with one of my long-time best ever friends. Michelle and I have SO much FUN!!! :) haha I know we look silly doing it, but it's such a great workout and it's nice to be able to see her more often and get some laughs and a good workout in at the same time! Plus, our instructor Priscilla is AMAZING!! She has so much energy!! Without her, class wouldn't be half as fun!!

We also went to a special Zumba class last Saturday at a local community center. It was the Party Hearty event celebrating Heart Month to raise money for the American Heart Association. You can check out the Zumba Pensacola site here. If you're local you should join us!! :)
While we didn't pose for any pictures, here are a couple from the event, and we are right in the middle!

And of course there is Priscilla on stage! :) This pic sums up her personality nicely I think! :)
